SUPERPOWER INC * is designed to provide a forum to explore
our collective desire to identify with the mythic proportions
embodied by the super-powers-that-be.
Humans have long recognized the presence of a larger-than-life
realm of existence. We sense that the rich reservoir of
super power is not, after all, alien to our deepest hopes,
fears, and dreams.
Our awareness of this mysterious “Other’ side
of our nature has been incarnated in many imaginative material
forms – from charcoal on cave walls to monumental
colored glass and mosaics, to narrative stories painted,
printed, or woven into cloth. We continue to participate
in our myths by clothing our bodies with symbolically charged
rituals and garments. Indeed our clothes expose us from
the inside out. They provide the critical material membrane
to mediate between our private dreams, our alter egos, and
our public lives.
